I’m starting to think we really need to start thinking up a name for the upcoming baby. We discarded most of the entries from our long-standing list, and now we’re left with next to nothing. (I mean we can’t keep calling him ’sweetie’ forever!)

The Régie des rentes du Québec has a nice children’s given names databank set up. The link is actually hidden down on the right of the main page. The databank displays facts like how many people named their children by which name, the most popular names, etc. – it’s from Québec statistics of the last few years. Entering names in there and finding how many times it was given is becoming an addictive little game.

We’re hoping to give our kid a decent and bilingual – but not too popular – name. Oh, and it has to go with “Gélinas”.
