Xavier’s been rolling from tummy to back (read: falling over) about three times yesterday, albeit reluctantly. Hit his head every time, which did not bode well for this new maneuvre’s popularity. I thought I noticed the last time was a little smoother done, though, so he’s learning.
Last shot for a while, this morning. It went excellently – it WAS only the one, this time, and the less stinging one, at that. The nurse weighted him: 18.5 lbs, at 6.5 months.
He’s been moving on the floor a lot. He’s able to turn around of course, and push himself back, raise himself with his arms (push-ups, of sorts), pull on something to move forward, and have tried a couple of times to pull at things a little over the floor in order to elevate himself – not quite there yet. We’re on the edge of our seat watching, highly expecting him to go forward soon. Everyone says “yeah, but once he does, you’ll have a lot more trouble watching him, as he’ll start exploring the house” …So what? I expect my pride at his crawling will exceed any amount of annoyment. (Says I, before the fact.) *g*
Also, I’m having him practise staying sit without help, and he’s getting better by the minute. It seems his development takes on speed with each passing month. He’s full throttle now.
He says “mama”, but it’s more like “mamamamama…”, and “dededadeda”. He also makes “pffff” (pushing air through his lips to make saliva or water foam).
Not sleeping nights, yet. Teeth are too much of a bother. Three teeths in now! Got his top left one on Saturday (Feb.10).
He’ll often take bottles during the day, but I’m still breast-feeding him at night. He loves cereal, eats vegetables and a little fruit (crushed banana is a favourite). Meat is a no-go.
That’s it for now!
