Ça avance, ça avance les dents… et les bébés.

Well, I wasn’t born or anything that grand, today, but I did score a 5th tooth. The other top one, front right.

Doing REALLY WELL on the crawling, too. Mom will be making a list of security accessories to buy this evening, and moving interesting plants from the floor and whatnot (drats!). We’ll bug dad to post a video of my prowess this weekend.

Oh, do have a look at the “First Time For Everything” link up there: there’s a video of Sara the newborn. Ben got off OK, she seems quiet. I don’t know what his dad is all about, with his “what about good luck mommy and daddy?” comment… (*grin*)

Baby Party

All – well not really ALL, Abigaëlle wasn’t there, and Romane was highly missed, and there’s my friend Benjamin that I saw just the two times but, you know, a MAJORITY – of my friends came to visit me today! There was Félix, Chloé and little Émilie.

We played, and we cried, and we poked each other in the eye, and we generally had a good time, all the while mommy and the other mommies did all that boring eating and chatting mommies do. A nice day, all around!

Speaking of babies, one more to the count: my friend Ben had a SISTER today; Sara Elizabeth, with a Z. (Look over here for Ben’s – and I guess his sister’s, now – blog. He’s a pretty insightful one, that Ben.) Apparently, a sister is another baby that comes to visit, but it DOESN’T LEAVE, and then you have to share your mommy’s time with it. EW! Good luck, Ben, is what I say.

Bin donc cute

… well I just really wanted to post that picture; it’s so darn cute!

More to the point, I’ve finally managed to put up the pages that say more about me (even though the link for it has been up for some amount of time). It includes a presentation of my living and non-living surroundings, and a little about my life past and present: Introduction à ma vida

4 assimétrique

4th tooth in, but not the expected one. He had the two middle ones on the bottom gum, and the left front one at the top. He now has the one left to the left top one – do you follow? Anyhow, the right front one at the top is coming too, within a day or two.

Also, his crawling is coming along. A couple days more and he’ll be a pro!

Notre petite tortue têtue

Yay! Xavier’s been making good progress on the crawling today, despite two very annoying not-there-yet teeth. He’s been able to move forward once or twice already. It’s mostly accidental yet: he’s moved a couple of centimeters forward each time, while trying to reach for things, but that’s all he needs for starting! A little more experience, and we’ll have to redecorate the house soon enough.

15-minutes-later update: Sheesh, they learn fast! He’s like a little turtle already!

Falling back (and other progress)

Xavier’s been rolling from tummy to back (read: falling over) about three times yesterday, albeit reluctantly. Hit his head every time, which did not bode well for this new maneuvre’s popularity. I thought I noticed the last time was a little smoother done, though, so he’s learning.

Last shot for a while, this morning. It went excellently – it WAS only the one, this time, and the less stinging one, at that. The nurse weighted him: 18.5 lbs, at 6.5 months.

He’s been moving on the floor a lot. He’s able to turn around of course, and push himself back, raise himself with his arms (push-ups, of sorts), pull on something to move forward, and have tried a couple of times to pull at things a little over the floor in order to elevate himself – not quite there yet. We’re on the edge of our seat watching, highly expecting him to go forward soon. Everyone says “yeah, but once he does, you’ll have a lot more trouble watching him, as he’ll start exploring the house” …So what? I expect my pride at his crawling will exceed any amount of annoyment. (Says I, before the fact.) *g*

Also, I’m having him practise staying sit without help, and he’s getting better by the minute. It seems his development takes on speed with each passing month. He’s full throttle now.

He says “mama”, but it’s more like “mamamamama…”, and “dededadeda”. He also makes “pffff” (pushing air through his lips to make saliva or water foam).

Not sleeping nights, yet. Teeth are too much of a bother. Three teeths in now! Got his top left one on Saturday (Feb.10).

He’ll often take bottles during the day, but I’m still breast-feeding him at night. He loves cereal, eats vegetables and a little fruit (crushed banana is a favourite). Meat is a no-go.

That’s it for now!
