Un cadeau de fête moins plaisant

Transl. “A less enjoyable birthday gift”

Turning one equals to a birthday party, but it also means another round of shots. FOUR of them, to be exact. And since he’s got big enough little arms, now, that’s where they landed.

Xavier chatted up the nurse and addressed nice smilies to her while she put together the paperwork. He even watch in fascination her preparation of the needles, entirely unaware of their destination. This behaviour was irrevocably changed after she started her business, and the looks of terror he sent her way as he tried to climb over me and get away from her boded ill for any future friendship between the two. I gotta say he did good, though – I certainly wouldn’t have done better if somebody hurt me this way for apparently no good reason.

I accepted the chicken pox shot – I was taken short as I’d forgotten it was this time around, and wasn’t sure yet what my decision would be on this one… didn’t even have the opportunity to check with Frank. I figure they had some reason to integrate it into the standard inoculation program, but the nurse was decidedly not influencing my decision so I had to rely on instinct alone. I hope I chose right.

The shots are no fun. Our doctor is funny about it. She does her check up and then leaves so Norah won’t associate her (the doctor) with the needles. Two nurses come in and hit a needle in each leg simultaneously. The tag-team makes the process go faster.

I like the picture above. Xav showing off his artwork.
